What’s in a Name?

People keep asking me how we came up with the girls’ names.  My first thought to these people is, duh, just like everyone else.  (Sorry if you are reading this and you are “one of those people”) 

I’d like to think that Travis and I were like most couples- knowing we weren’t having kids yet, but still spent time talking about what we would name our kids if and when we had them.  Everyone does that, right?  

Addison was a name that we, for whatever reason, have always liked. We also knew that we wanted to use the middle name Mae for one of the girls.  Mae is the middle name of my dear friend Jody. 

Somehow we decided on Addison Rose and all we have left was the middle name Mae.  I remember coming home from work (a few months into my pregnancy) and I went straight to bed, something I did often.  Travis decided to come in the bedroom and wake me up! As much as I wanted to seriously kill him, I patiently waited to hear what he had to say to me. He looked at me as I was waking up and said “Lilly Mae, her name should be Lilly Mae.”

I’m still not sure how he came up with Lilly, but I loved it…. And so our names were complete.
